To do our video we used the following techniques
The reason the shot was taken from a high angle is simply because we wanted to ensure we included everything that was necessary to make it look like a class room and that she is the teacher and not a student. Also the fact that in this video she as a teacher is cheating it might connotate powerless right now because she might lose her job as a teacher if she does not get those papers. The lightning on this shot is not amazing as we have only used ambient lighting. This is a kind of wide shot; again the reason for it is so it is possible to view and interpret the meaning of the scene.
Mise-en-scene
Our very first shot was a shot of one of my colleagues sat on a desk looking very nervous and tense. She was acting like a teacher.Close-up
The second shot was a shot of the teachers hand.
This shot is a really extreme close-up shot of the hand. The reason we have made this shot a close-up is to show more closely the movement of the hand and how tense and nervous she is. This is a kind of high angle to a straight on angle. There is a particular reason into why we did this. Again we only used ambient light and as you can see there is some shadow on the scene. Again as you can see there are other things on the scene for example rulers, paper work and keyboard to make it look more like a teachers desk.
Camera Movement
The following shot is a shot of me walking down the corridor with the papers the teacher needs.
This is a medium shot of my feet and it was taken from a straight on angle. Again we did not use any fancy lighting, simply used the ambient light we had. The shot had a camera movement into it. Since i was moving we decided to use a track shot to follow my feet around. I really liked this shot simply because it makes it look really mysterious as we cannot see my face.
Fade
The next shot was one of the last shot taken right on the end.
In this shot we decided to use some fade. Again this is a medium shot take from a slightly high angle. There are two reasons why we included fade into this shot, the main reason is because we wanted to ensure the viewers know that time was passing by and second is simply because it was to show a ending to so much tension and a beginning to re-leaf as she already has what she wanted.
Shot Reverse Shot
The shots when the teacher receives her paper work.
This is a medium shot, again only using ambient lighting but in this shot there is a high key lightning as there is no shadows in it. The main importance of this shot it is because it was a shot reverse shot and to do this we had to ensure we were not breaking the 180 degree rule. To do this shot without breaking the 180 degree rule we had to ensure when the shot was on my side the teacher was on my right and when it was on her side I was also on the right.
Match on action
To do the match on action shot we first had a wide shot of the teacher taking her phone out of the pocket. This shot was a straight on shot with again only using ambient lighting.
When the phone was out of her pocket and in her hands we took an extreme close-up shot of the phone to show a match on action shot. This is not also a match on action as it also is a point of view shot because the teacher is looking directly at the phone.
Eye-line match cuts
Afterwards we had a shot out the outside where the teacher was looking at. We considered this shot as an eye-line shot.
Conclusion
On my opinion i think as a first piece of work my colleagues and I have done a great job. Our video was not a 100% brilliant but in the end it all fitted together really well. I really liked the way we used the tracking camera movement to follow the feet around and plus the soundtrack we had behind it fitted quite well. Talking about soundtrack I honestly think that was our weakness. To be honest i have to say we had trouble finding the right tracks to go with our video and also there were bits of the video which would go silent because there was no soundtrack into it. During our production i have learn and understood the 180 degree more as i had not understood from the beginning. I also learn more about camera angles and how they can make a subject or object so much interesting.
This is an excellent analysis Luis - well done. You need to stop writing 'kind of' - it makes your points seem too vague occasionally.
